In Nasarawa, govt solicits media support


Nasarawa state government Monday, solicited collaboration and support from media organisations to promote government policies and programmes in the state.
State commissioner for information, culture and tourism, Comrade Dogo Shamma, made the appeal while playing host to the newly elected leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in his office in Lafia, the state capital.


Dogo said the fortunes of the state could only be advanced with the cooperation of media representatives working in the state.
He urged Journalists to always uphold the ethics of the profession by ensuring balance, objectivity and fairness at all times.
He also urged journalists in the state to replicate the love exhibited by governor Abdullahi Sule towards the profession with objective reportage and high level professionalism.

He said Sule-led administration will always allow newsmen easy access to relevant information that will facilitate public enlightenment in line with the administration’s policy of openness, fairness and accountability.


Earlier, the NUJ chairman Comrade Salihu Mohammed Alkali said the visit was to express gratitude to the commissioner and the ministry for the support given to the council before, during and after the elections.
He informed the commissioner of the Union’s continued collaboration and support in order to promote and move the state forward.
