In Nasarawa, Sule flags off sales of fertilizers for 2020 farming season, distributes seeds


Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state Tuesday, flagged-off sales of 930 metric tons (18,600 bags) of NPK 20:10:10 fertilizer for the year 2020 cropping season.
While distributing the fertilizer at the government Lafia, the state capital, Sule said the fertilizer would be sold to farmers at subsidized rate of N5000 only per bag.
He cautioned individuals and groups against purchasing the commodity and selling to farmers at exorbitant rates.


“Let me categorically warn that those handling the fertilizer sales will be held responsible for any anomaly in the distribution of the fertilizer in their respective domain,” the governor stated.

He also charged the beneficiaries to ensure judicious use of the commodity to increase their yield.
Sule warned that coordinators at various levels were to ensure remittance of sales to the designated bank account as any misappropriation would be meted with appropriate sanction.
Similarly, the governor also flagged-off the distribution of 990 metric tons of ruminant feed supplements, as well as 80 metric tons of mineral salt licks which was provided by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to livestock farmers and pastoralists across the state.

He warned that no amount should be collected from the distribution of the ruminant feed supplements and mineral salt licks from the target beneficiaries.

He explained that just last year, government procured and distributed 240 metric tons of assorted fertilizers to dry season farmers at subsidized rates, aimed at improving agricultural production in the state.
