In Ogun, Police arrests wanted cult leader at robbery scene

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a notorious Eiye confraternity leader who has been on the wanted list of the command on Saturday 24th of October 2020 at a robbery scene.

The suspect, Akibu Tikare was arrested following a distress call received at Ogijo division that a group of armed robbers were operating between Gbaga and Kamalu area of Ogijo robbing people of thier belongings at gun point.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP, Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement made available to Blueprint stated that following the distress call, the DPO, Ogijo division, CSP Muhammed Suleiman Baba quickly led his men to the scene with some members of vigilante group where the suspect was arrested. The other group members of his group who he claimed they came from Ikorodu and owutu area of Lagos State escaped.

Oyeyemi further noted that some of the victims have identified him as one of those that robbed them of their properties including but not limited to phones and cash.

Recovered from the suspect is a locally made double barrel short gun.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Cp Edward A. Ajogun has directed the immediate  transfer of the suspect to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence department for discreet investigation.

He equally directs that the escaped members of the gang must be hunted for and be apprehended in order to put a permanent end to the gang operation
