In Rivers, Ambassador warns corps members against illegal migration

Nigerian youths, especially corps members have been called upon to put their faith in Nigeria and work hard to build the country into a prosperous, peaceful and egalitarian society, capable of meeting the needs and aspirations of every citizen.

This call was made inside National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai by His Excellency, Ambassador Sunday Osa Omoigiade, a former Nigeria ambassador to China who delivered PAIGAS lecture to the 2019 Batch ‘C’ stream two corps members.

PAIGAS, an acronym for Pan African Institute for Global Affairs and Strategy is a institute set up by the Nigeria government and supported by the Federal Republic of Germany to collaborate with the NYSC Scheme to educate and sensitise youths, especially corps members against the lure for illegal migration to foreign countries with fake promises of instantly making it by the cartel that run network.
Ambassador Omoigiade went on to note that legal migration was a welcomed development for those who have genuine reasons to travel abroad, but cautioned those who want to illegally migrate to jettison the idea as the risks involved in it was better imagined than experienced.
He said most countries of the world are battling with the rising population of its citizens and how to provide for their basic needs, not illegal migrants.

He described as gory, horrific and sordid experiences of young Nigerians who have died, being enslaved, tortured, abused and raped all because of false promises of hitting it big time in foreign countries.
The PAIGAS Ambassador appealed to the corps members to believe in Nigeria as the country was well blessed by God with population and natural resources to be prosperous, noting that all they need to do was to be patriotic, honest and hard working in rebuilding the nation towards achieving greatness and glory again.
Highlights of the PAIGAS lecture was the decoration of the state Coordinator, Mr. Chinwendu Chukwu, as the Chief PAIGAS ambassador of the state and inauguration of some corps volunteers as a PAIGAS ambassador.

The corps volunteers were charged to go to all the nooks and crannies of the state to educate, sensitise and preach the message that youths must resist the temptation of illegal migration and work hard to succeed in their own country.
