Not fewer than 10,000 persons have applied to work with Governor David Umahi as his aide.
They applied to work either as senior technical advisers (STAs), technical advisers (TAs), development center coordinators, or liaison officers and so on
The state government before now had asked that those interested in appointment in the above position should submit a written application and their proposal.
Governor Umahi revealed this Wednesday while swearing in new member’s of his executive council at EXCO chambers, Government House, Abakaliki.
According to him,” unfortunately what is trending in the state now is that over 10,000 people have applied to serve as SAs, STAs, TAs, coordinators, liaison officers and so on.
“If I’m making additional SAs it will not be more than 10”. Our commissioners will come last, I want them to know that nobody is indispensable.”
He regretted that members of his former Excos worked against him and said that his appointment now would not be business as usual.
“Anybody we appoint now I want them to know that it is not come chop, everybody will have to be creating wealth and not depending on our allocation.
Further, he warned them of being involved in cultism and said that any found would be relieved of his position.
Among those appointed were 18 senior special advisers and special advisers, Head of Service, deputy chief of staff, deputy principal secretary and one personal assistant on budget.
Also, five of the appointees are immediate past members of Ebonyi state House of Assembly.
