The Sokoto state Police command has rescued 12-year-old girl identified as Joy, who was allegedly locked up in a room by her parents for eight months in Dadin Kowa area of Sokoto.
Joy who was said to have been locked up and deprived of food due to her unstable mental condition, was rescued after the police were alerted by neighbors.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the state police command spokesman, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, said the victim was rescued on Thursday, May 13, 2021 while the suspects were arrested and detained at Dadin kowa police station.
