In Yobe, 13 candidates set for Guber contest

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Yobe state has
said 13 governorship and 157 House of Assembly candidates under platform of different political parties are set for Saturday’s governorship and state House of Assembly elections.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Ahmed Makama, made this known on Friday while briefing journalists on the level of INEC
preparation.

According to the REC, all sensitive materials have been distributed to respective local government electoral officers, assuring that all
polling units would be open at 8.00am on Saturday.

“Yobe INEC is good to go and ready to conduct the governorship and State House of Assembly elections tomorrow,” he said.

Makama further told journalists that all the problems encountered during
the presidential and national assembly elections had been taken care of.

The Commissioner of Police, Sumonou Abdulmaliki, also said they have
deployed 4,000 policemen to man the polling units in conjunction with other security agencies.

As for Gujba local government bedeviled with security challenges, the status-quo has not changed as all the voters will still be converging to Damaturu the state capital for voting.
