In Yobe, Buni swears in Kaigama as substantive Chief Judge

Yobe state Governor Mai Mala Buni has sworn-in Justice Gumna Kashim Kaigama as the substantive Chief Judge after serving three months on acting capacity.

The new Chief Judge was appointed in June 2020 prior to recommendations of state judicial service commission after the demise of the former judge, Justice Musa Nabaruma.

Governor Buni urged the new Chief Judge to be dedicated and fair in discharging his duties.

“Justice Kashim is noted for fairness, impartiality, hard work, humility, selflessness and courage in the discharge of his duties. I am therefore confident in his ability to execute the functions of his office fairly, justly and effectively.

“I am equally sure that the Chief Judge would use his wealth of experience to promote harmonious working relationship between the Executive, Judicial and Legislative arms of government in the state,” he said.

Speaking shortly after he was sworn in, Justice Nabaruwa said measures have been put in place to ensure that justice is not delayed by the judiciary.

He also sought for the cooperation of the staff of the judiciary to enable him function effectively.
