In Zamfara, Police rescue 15 kidnap victims 

The Zamfara state police command has rescued 15 victims, who were abducted on the Tsafe-Gusau federal road last Monday.

The command public relations officer, SP Muhammad Shehu, disclosed at a press conference, Thursday.

According to him, the joint task search and rescue operatives comprising vigilante and police rescued the victims after an intensive search and rescue operation.

“After chasing the bandits to their hideouts by the joint task search and rescue operatives comprising vigilante and tactical police operatives, the bandits abandoned the victims and fled to the bush which led to the rescue by the police.

According to him, some of the victims were traveling from Abuja, Kaduna, Kebbi and Sokoto states to their various destinations when they were kidnapped. 

Shehu stated that the victims included seven women, six men and two kids.

“Their rescue was as a result of deployment of joint search and rescue operatives by the command to the scene which led to successful rescue of the kidnapped victims,” he said.

According to him, the victims were medically checked by the police and reunited with their relatives.
