Indiscriminate urination, defecation outlawed at IMT

It is now a social crime to defaecate or urinate indiscriminately at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.

It is also now a crime to sell or buy hand-outs even as money for marks and sexual harassment of students and staff is seriously abhorred.
The Rector, Prof. Augustine Nweze, who disclosed this at the 36th matriculation ceremony of the school, said humans are not animals but humans and as such should behave accordingly.

“We admit that our environment is challenged. I, therefore, urge you, as descent young people, not to worsen the situation. We are working hard on this aspect of our life. We shall even harder we promise but, meanwhile, do not throw refuse, urinate or defaecate carelessly. Remember doing the right thing separates humans from animals,” he said.

Nweze said the school frowned upon the sale of hand-outs to students, pointing out that “what is allowed is textbooks and that even the approved textbooks must not exceed N1, 000.”

The Rector intimated that on no account should lecturers award marks because of gratification and neither should sexual harassment of students or staff be tolerated at all in the institution.

Nweze announced that the school management is doing everything possible to make IMT a degree awarding institution and has even gone into affiliation with UNN to see that their students obtain degree certificates.

According to him, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who is the visitor to the school is desirous to see that the school assumes a university status as soon as possible.

“It is the desire of our visitor and Governor of Enugu state, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, to give IMT a university status in the shortest time possible,” he said.
