INEC commences training of 8000 staffers


In line with the approval to implement the Electoral Training Study Cycle (ETSC) phase II, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC ) has commenced training 8000 of its staff in the 36 state capitals and FCT. 


According to a statement by the commission on Tuesday, the training started on Monday August 26, 2019 was designed to develop a body of well trained, competent and professional permanent staff. 


The ETSC II organised by the Electoral Institute (TEI) is a multi layered training of 8000 staff of the Commission nationwide in layers at State Headquarters including FCT and at the 109 Senatorial districts.
The commission said the first level which commenced on Tuesday was a two-day refresher training for 774 Local Government Training Officers (LGTOs).
The second level is scheduled to commence on Wednesday 28th August, 2019 at the Senatorial District for Staff at the INEC Local Government Area Offices. 


Facilitators are mainly State Training Officers (STOs) for the first level and Local Government Training Officers (LGTOs). 
The third level has 20 selected staff from the State offices in the 36 States and FCT as participants.
According to the statement, modules to be treated at the training includes legal framework for elections, electoral systems and design, election and governance, Electoral Management Board (EMB) and its Functions, among other topics. 


The training is expected to equip Staff of the Commission with the requisite skill sets, basic core values and information necessary for them to perform efficiently and effectively.
