INEC meets stakeholders over pending Ajeromi-Ifelodun federal constituency in Lagos

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos state has it would meet with stakeholders in Ajeromi-Ifelodun federal constituency today over the pending supplementary election in the constituency.

The February 23 National Assembly election in the constituency was declared inconclusive by the electoral umpire and no date has been fixed for the poll.

The commission had said that it would hold supplementary elections in 71 polling units across eight wards of Ajeromi-Ifelodun with total registered voters of 8,984.

“INEC Lagos state will on Thursday, (today) April 11, 2019 meet with the relevant stakeholders in Ajeromi/Ifelodun federal constituency 1 to deliberate on the pending supplementary election in the constituency.

“The venue is the INEC office in Ajeromi/Ifelodun local government,” INEC’s spokesman Lagos state Mr Femi Akinbiyi said in a statement Wednesday.

Akinbiyi said that the event would hold at 11:00 a.m.

The spokesman, who said that no date had been fixed for the poll, expressed the commission’s readiness to conclude the election in a peaceful atmosphere, with the cooperation of the stakeholders. (NAN)
