INEC presents certificates of return to Zamfara lawmakers

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Zamfara state has presented certificates of return to 24 newly elected members of the Zamfara House of Assembly.

Blueprint Weekend reports that 23 of the lawmakers-elect are on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); while only the member elected to represent Maru South state constituency, Hon. Kabiru Hashimu, is on the platform of National Rescue Movement (NRM).

Addressing the lawmakers-elect, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hajiya Asama’u Sani Maikudi, said success recorded at the elections was a result of innovations by the commission to improve the electoral processes as well as support of stakeholders.

She commended security agencies in the state for their sacrifices to ensure peaceful environment before, during, and after elections.

The INEC boss implored the newly elected parliamentarians to use their position to implement people-oriented legislation that would enhance the provision of dividend of democracy to the good people of the state.

Speaking, Zamfara state Governor, Hon. Bello Matawalle, who was represented by his deputy, Barr. Mahadi Ali Gusau, promised to work harmoniously with the House of Assembly.
