INEC registers 381, 051 new voters in Niger

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has registered 381, 051 new voters in Niger state, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Professor Sam Egwu has said.
He made this declaration in a press statement issued by the commission’s head of voter’s education and publicity, Arthur Adzape.
The REC said a total number of 14.5 million new voters have been registered nationwide from 2017 to 2018 continuous voters registration exercise.
The statement said that the commissioner has also held stakeholders meeting with leaders of political parties in the state as they gear up for primaries.
He urged the parties to adhere strictly to lay down rules and procedures in the conduct of their primaries to avoid litigations by aggrieved members.
“The political parties led by the Deputy Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and current chairman of Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) Abubakar Abdullahi Gwada all agreed to play the game by the rules in order to further deepen democracy”, he statement said.
