Ineligible player controversy: I ‘ll overrule NFF if.. – Dalung

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barr Solomon Dalung has revealed that a panel of inquiry would be constituted to dig deep into why an ineligible Super Eagles Player was fielded during final of 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier between Algeria and Nigeria.
Defender Shehu Abdullahi was match-tied following repeated yellow cards received in two previous qualifier games before Algeria clash but was fielded.
Dalung who described the development as embarrassing to the country spoke in Abuja yesterday said he had demanded a well-detailed explanation from President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) who assured of his readiness to bring culprits to book.
According to the Minister, “I invited President Amaju Pinnick to know what really happened then but the explanation doesn’t sound serious for me. I asked are we saying our technical team is weak and could not keep proper record of players to know when to play them or not?
“I’m aware how sensitive football administration is, over the years in Nigeria. I was about to set up a committee when NFF set up a committee, I’m still expecting the report of NFF committee and if I’m not satisfied, I’m still going to put up the committee to investigate because we need to know what really happened.
“I learnt we were even notified from their explanation. And that those responsible at FIFA warned that what we were about doing has adverse consequences but they said information came and the person who got the information suddenly fell sick and was available. What are we saying; records of organization are kept in offices and no individual should carry them in their pocket. So, somebody is responsible for what happened
“The country was embarrassed and definitely we must have any explanation. This is not an issue that we will sweep under the carpet.”
It would be recalled that shortly after FIFA deducted three points from accumulated points during the qualifier due to the incidence, NFF set up a panel that was meant to submit report in few days as at November but nothing has been heard of the outcome up till the time of filling this report
