Insecurity: Afikpo chair, stakeholders pray for God’s intervention

Following widespread insecurity recorded in states across the federation, chairman of Afikpo North local government area, Barrister Obiageri Oko-Enyim, has led a delegation of stakeholders from the council to pray for divine intervention.

In a statement made available to Blueprint, signed by the public relations officer in Abuja Sunday, Mr Sunday Nkama, Oko-Enyim, called on the people of the LGA for a sustained prayer to end insecurity and widening division of Nigeria along religious and tribal lines, even as she lauded the state governor, David Nweze Umahi, for initiating a one-week fasting and prayer in the state.

He said: “Saturday, May 1, 2021 shall remain memorable in the annals of Afikpo North local government area as leaders and stakeholders of t6he council led by the chairman, Oby Oko Enyim, converged at the council hall to cry unto heaven and seek for God’s intervention on security challenges in the country.

“The event was attended by public officers at the local government level, including Development Centre coordinators, councilors, supervisors, liaison officers, management committee members, members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Afikpo North LGA chapter, leadership of NULGE, town union presidents, widows, among others.

“Addressing the participants, the chairman of Afikpo North LGA, Oby Oko Enyim, called on the people of the area for a sustained prayer to end the myriad of security problems and widening division of Nigeria along religious and tribal lines as ‘God is the only hope for the country now’.

” Oby, who acknowledged the sovereignty of God and his capacity to change all ugly situations, pointed out that when the people of God gather and seek for His intervention in the face of daunting challenges, God answers and manifest Himself; just like He did to the Israelites in the days of King Jehoshaphat.”
