Insecurity: Bandits kill 21 in Zamfara

Suspected bandits numbering over 100 have launched attacks at  Bulakke and Zamangira villages under Kanoma and Mayanchi district of Maru Local Government Council of Zamfara state killing  21 persons.

A resident of Zamfara Gira Village, Malam Kabiru Muhammad, in an interview with Blueprint Wednesday said, the bandits invaded the two villages on Tuesday around 5:30 pm and killed 3 persons in Bulakke and 10 persons in Zamangira villages during the attacks.

Muhammad further narrated that the bandits returned on Wednesday at around 10:30 am immediately after the funeral of the 10 people and dispersed mourners killing 8 persons on the spot.

On efforts made by security agencies to prevent the attacks, Muhammad lamented that the joint security operatives of Army and Police did not come until after the two attacks.

“The army came and witnessed the funeral of our people killed by the bandits but unfortunately after they left, the bandits came and attack us and killed 8 persons on the spot this morning”. He said.

Muhammad urged the federal government and state to come to their aid by deploying more troops to secure the area from the bandits’ nefarious activities.

However, all effort to get response from the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Sp. Muhammad Shehu by our correspondent on the incident proved abortive as several calls made to his mobile Phone but no response.
