Insecurity: Bauchi Assembly speaker urges support for govt

The speaker, Bauchi state House of Assembly, Abubakar Suleiman, has called on Nigerians to always support the government’s efforts at ensuring adequate security of their lives and property.

According to him, security is everybody’s business and it requires the input of all citizens to litigate the current insecurity in the country.

Suleiman made the call Friday at the formal opening of the 28th annual national seminar themed: “The Islamic perspectives to the challenges of world peace and development,” organised by Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), holding Jos.

He said: “Religious organisations like JIBWIS should continue to preach to people to always be conscious of their environment. The issue of insecurity is becoming a thing of great concerns that the government alone cannot deal with.

“I am, therefore, calling on the people to come in and support the Government towards addressing the situation.”

The JIBWIS national chairman, Council of Ulama, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, said one of the major aims of holding the seminar “is to continue to educate, enlighten and retrain scholars that would soon embark on preaching during the month of Ramadan.”

“The aim is to retrain and enlighten our scholars, preachers of what is expected of them as they preach to the people in the month of Ramadan,” he said.
