Insecurity: Coalition seeks end to arbitrary workers’ sack

A non-governmental organisation, Coalition of Civil Society Organization, Kwara state chapter, Monday asked the federal government and all employers of labour to immediately halt arbitrary sacking of workers in Nigeria.

It also demanded the immediate compliance with the National Minimum Wage Act by all employers of labour in the public and private sectors.

The coalition also called for establishment of community defense committees as a means to address insecurity in Nigeria.

It said membership of the committee should be drawn from residents of each community adding that the vigilante groups should be encouraged and funded to serve as security enforcement sub units in every community and neighborhood.

Spokesman of the organisation in Kwara state, Comrade Abubakar Basambo, reeled out the coalition’s demands in Ilorin as part of activities to commemorate “National Day of Action Against Insecurity and Hopelessness in Nigeria.”
