Insecurity ‘ll be history if… – Makarfi

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), presidential aspirant and former Governor of Kaduna state, Senator Muhammad Makarfi, has pledged to give priority to security with a view to safeguard lives and properties of Nigerians if elected President in 2019.
Makarfi stated this on Saturday when he visited the secretariat of PDP, Zamfara state chapter, as part of his solidarity nationwide tour to seek support from members of the party ahead of the party’s preparation for party primaries and general elections in the country.
Makarfi expressed dismay over insecurity challenges facing some part of the country, particularly, Zamfara state on the issue of armed banditry, cattle rustling and other criminality which bedeviled socioeconomic potential of the state for over seven years.
He said, if elected as president of Nigeria under the platform of PDP, he will provide all the necessary mechanism to arrest the menace within a short period of time.
“When I was the governor of Kaduna state, over 3000 lives was lost as a result of ethno religious crisis just within three to four days, but due to high level of our commitment, we brought lasting solution of the crisis just in one week”.
He said.
He also consoled with the entire people affected with banditry, cattle rustling and other criminality over the death of their loved ones and pray Allah to bring the end of the problem and peace to thrive in the state.
Senator Makarfi further stated that, if elected the president of the country at the next general elections, he will concentrate on human and capital development which includes, youth empowerment, road networks, agriculture, healthcare delivery, education, water supply, housing development, rural and urban electrification as well as fighting against corruption and good governance.
He pointed out that, Nigerians irrespective of their tribes or religious inclination must be carried along by his administration if nominated by the party and elected as president come 2019.
He equally urged PDP members in the country to remain under one umbrella and support him to succeed in the forthcoming general elections, adding that, no meaningful development could be achieved in any nations where disunity is the order of the day.
In his address of welcome, the Zamfara state chairman of the PDP, Senator Hassan Muhammad Nasiha promised to give all the necessary support to whoever emerge as the party’s presidential aspirant in the next general elections, saying that already, the party at state level had nominated Honorable Bello Matawalle as its gubernatorial candidate through consensus.
