Insecurity: NGO installs solar street lights in Yobe community

Yunusari local government council with support from North-east Regional
Initiatives (NERI) has installed and commissioned 44 number of solar
street lights at four strategic locations in Kanamma community in Yobe
state.

Commissioning the project on Tuesday, the acting local government
chairman, Alhaji Saleh Musa Gulani, represented by the Head of
Agriculture and Natural Resources department, Musa K. Dagona, said
NERI cannot be forgotten in the area looking at the numerous projects
it executed towards regaining the means of livelihood of the
community.

However, the chairman called for more projects in the area especially to the most vulnerable villages.

Speaking earlier, the NERI representative in the area, Abacha Kachalla, said the 44 solar street lights were installed at some strategic routes into the community to checkmate suspicious movement of the insurgents.

“These 44 solar street lights have been installed and commissioned at
four strategic locations of Eid prayer ground, Abattoir, Kanamma/Niger
Republic border and Army base.”

“It will help checkmate intruders into the community, therefore I urge
you to personally be a security to the installed street lights,
because it is for the betterment of our people,” he said.

In his vote of thanks, the All Progressive Congress (APC) chairman in
the area, Bobo Kanamma, thanked NERI for the street lights, renovation
of the burnt down General Hospital and local government secretariat
last year 2018.

He sought for construction of culverts for areas that experience
flooding annually.

There were goodwill messages from the representative of the Nigerian
Army and community leaders.
