Insecurity: Omo Agege appeals for patience

Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the newly appointed service chiefs so as to implement strategies in the fight against insurgents in the country.

Senator Omo – Agege stated this during the inspection of a federal road project in Illah, Oshimili north Local Government Area of the state at the weekend.

He said, “Security challenge is a very big one but you should also know that it is not limited to Nigeria. On the floor of the Senate, we probe into motions of how we can deal with this issues.

“We pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari that we needed a change in the leadership of security agencies, because they have been there for so many years, we thought we needed a breath of a fresh air for the enthronement of the new leadership and he obliged us”

“We now have a new leadership, we have to give them more time to come up with the way to implement their own ideas.

“The insecurity did not just start with us,this challenges were there before we came, even before the 2019 general elections. The security agencies are trying, but they could do more,”.

Senator Omo-Agege however described the road project as a meagre project compared to what Deltans would enjoy if All Progressives Congress (APC) is voted into power in the 2023 governorship elections.

He noted that the rehabilitation of the  road by the Federal Government was a made possible due to the synergy enjoyed by himself and Senator Representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Peter Nwaboshi.

“When the Illah Development Union (IDU) came crying to me over the deplorable condition of road, I sent for Senator Peter Nwaboshi. We put our heads together on what could be done. Senator Nwaboshi occupies one of the powerful Committee in the Senate. We haven’t decided to provide you all the roads, I crave your indulgence to be more patient”.

He commended Senator Nwaboshi for putting partisan politics aside in order to attract dividend of democracy to Delta saying that we are not the only Senators in Delta.

“We decided that we would put our heads together and serve the people because that is why we were sent to Abuja.

“Another opportunity will arrive for us to come back here, when we come back in 2023 to ask and you will give to us” he asserted.

In his remarks, Senator Peter Nwaboshi, debunked the rumors of his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP).

According to him, “I am still a member of the PDP but It is where your interest lies that we will go to”.
