Insecurity: Stop attaching ethnic, religious colouration to crime, Oyo NSCDC commandant warns

Oyo state Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) on Tuesday warned against attaching ethnic or religious colourations to crimes across the state.

The State NSCDC Commandant, Alhaji Iskilu Akinsanya , handed down the warning in Ibadan while speaking at the Command’s Headquarter Agodi,Ibadan during the Monthly recap of security  activities across the state.

Akinsanya pointed out that rather than fuelling crisis , the time has come for stakeholders in Nigeria to join hands with the NSCDC and other security agencies to end the insecurity

He said, “Those fanning the ember of war violent in the state should desist from such act as anybody caught will be punished”.

 Commandant Akinsanya urged  them to stop attaching ethnic or religious colouration to crime or Criminality but to join hand with NSCDC and other Security agencies to  end menace of kidnapping, banditry, Cultism, robbery, child-abuse and other vices.

He said, “In view of recent security challenges in Oyo state, the people of the State should continue to give maximum support to the Security agencies in the state in order to secure them perfectly.”

The Oyo state NSCDC boss hinted that the command has also deployed 150 Personnel of Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) to the existing Agro Ranger on ground in the crisis affected areas in the state to forestall peace and uphold unity among the people of the area.

Commandant Akinsanya added that the command has created additional three area commands to the existing 6 areas in the state to make it nine area commands in Oyo state and the three new areas are Area G-Egbeda,Area H-Kishi,Area I-Saki, saying, “the Security of the state is not a governmental issue but collective responsibility of all indigene and resident of Oyo state”
