Insecurity: VGN to witness repositioning, synergy with security agencies- CG

The Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) said plans are on the way to effectively compliment the efforts of other security agencies in protecting lives and property as well as prevent the rate of crimes during and after the Yuletide season.

The Commandant General of VGN, Dr Mohammed Usman – Jahun, told newsmen in Abuja Wednesday that his organisation will embark on several security strategies with other para-military and military organisations to ensure that Nigerians enjoy high level of peace in the country.

On his Victory at the Court of Appeal sitting in Kaduna as the duely elected Commandant General of the organisation in Nigeria, Jahun who dedicated the victory to God said the judgement had put to an end the over ten years leadership legal battle confronting the VGN.

According to him, the group remain committed to supporting the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in overcoming the nation’s security challenges.

He, therefore, promised to work with those who challenged his emergence as Commandant General of VGN in court to realize the key objectives of the organisation.

The Commandant General said officers and men of VGN would be adequately trained on international best practices of community policing to enhance security at the grassroots.

Dr. Usman Jahun said the organization was already collaborating with some international agencies on capacity training to boost the performance of its personnel.

While advising officers and men of VGN not to relent in discharging their duty, Jahun called for the support of state and federal government in the activities of VGN across the country.

He also called for legislative backing for the Organisation to enhance its operation of combatting crimes in the country.
