Insecurity: Yoruba youth group proffers solution

The Association of Arewa Yoruba Youth (AAYY) has expressed concerns over the security situation in the country, particularly in the North, and urged President the Muhammadu Buhari-led government to take proactive measures to curb the situation.

The association noted that, “The security challenges in Northern Nigeria have indeed become a thing of great concern to all. This has resulted in killings, kidnappings, armed robberies, cattle rustling and so many social vices that have become the order of the day.

“Killings of all kinds and kidnapping for ransoms have also taken a greater proportion resulting in loss of lives and property of unimaginable magnitude destroyed thereby causing great setbacks to the people in all spheres of life.”

The chairman of the Association, Abuja chapter, Engr. Abiola Abdulsalam, in a statement, said concerned citizens had also learned their voices as to how best insecurity could be confronted with the call for the sack service chiefs.

“The Northern Elders Forum through Professor Ango Abdullahi and Dr. Hakeem Baba Baba Ahmed had in various statements called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to take proactive measures towards arresting the insecurity be-devilling the region and the country.”

The North, according to the statement, has of late become a battleground for all kinds of social vices, thereby disrupting the good intention of government to ensure the provision of social amenities that would aid speedy development in the region and country.
