Inspector kills trailer conductor in Delta


An Inspector in the Delta State Ministry of Agriculture has killed a trailer conductor after an altercation.

The incident occurred along Asaba/ Benin express way while on inspection duty. 

The suspected manslaughter and team members from the department of produce, Ministry of Agriculture performed the devilish work on checkpoint along the Asaba/Benin express road when they stopped a Mack trailer with Reg. T0093YB, blue in colour.

It was gathered that during an altercation, one of the inspectors hit the conductor of the trailer on the head, who subsequently slumped.

The conductor was immediately rushed to Onicha-Olona General Hospital where he was confirmed dead by the Medical Doctor.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onovwapkoyeya who confirmed the incident said efforts are being made to arrest the fleeing suspect.

DSP Onovwapkoyeya said that the Inspector General of Police ban on illegal road blocks on the Highways for the collection of levies is still in force

While the police image maker noted that  the Commissioner of Police, CP Adeyinka Adeleke is using this medium to warn the general public to always conduct their affairs with civility at all times while commiserating with the family of the deceased.
