Institute tasks surveyors on training, professionalism

Nigerian Institute of Surveyors (NIS), Kaduna state council, has urged its members to keep upgrading and improving themselves through training to remain relevant in the ever-changing world.

Chairman of the state council, Daudu Andrew, who stated this during the oath taking of new exco and induction of new members into the institute in Kaduna, tasked members to maintain professional ethics in everything they do, adding that such ethics will enable them stand out of the crowd as  true professionals.

He said: “Professionals in this sector should consistently seek to improve themselves to overcome competition. Surveyors must eschew all tendencies capable of undermining the professional ethics in the overall interest of the people and the country at large.

“I want to urge the Kaduna state government to ensure inclusion of the members of the institute in government projects, because no project can stand the test of time and no certificate of occupancy is free from litigation, if there is no surveyor’s contribution. Kaduna state is the number two on the national ladder of our institutions in terms of dues payment.

“The current leadership of the institution is working in sync with government and its agencies to create the necessary environment for growth, peace and harmony within the profession that will reduce land litigations in the state. It is in the light of this that I call on all members of this great institution to see one another as stakeholders by joining hands together to make the institution great. With steadfast support and productive partnership, I am confident that we are well on our way towards actualising our set objectives of tapping out limitless potentials for the growth and development of our great members.”
