Insurgency: VSF to launch education project in North-east – Ochoche

The Victims Support Fund (VSF) has concluded plans to launch an education support project in communities affected by Boko Haram insurgency in the North-east.

Its executive director, Prof. Sunday Ochoche, disclosed this in a statement issued by the Fund’s communication officer, Ms Munachi Okoro, Wednesday in Abuja.

According to the statement, the education sector has been hard hit by the insurgency leaving many children out of school in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states.

The statement further indicated that “the project is aimed at improving the quality of education, rendering support and facilitating access to learning materials as well as strengthening the capacity of teachers.”

“The project would support about 49,000 pupils and train 1,000 teachers across the three states. Among the educational materials to be distributed are; textbooks, bags, exercise books, sandals, pencils, biros, eraser, learning chart and chalks.

“VSF, through its interventions over the years, has facilitated massive school enrollment in the affected communities,” the statement read in part.
