Insurgency: Zulum orders immediate reconstruction of Ajiri community

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno state has ordered for immediate rehabilitation of all buildings destroyed when the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents attacked Ajiri on 5th of May, 2021.


The insurgents launched an attack on the famous commercial community of Ajiri, killing eight residents of the town and setting ablaze several houses and other buildings in the community.

Many of the victims of the attack were rehabilitated and destroyed buildings reconstructed by the state government to resettle Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
The governor also ordered for the construction of additional housing units for the IDPs to enable more IDPs return to their ancestral homes Wednesday evening after taking an unscheduled visit to the Ajiri town of Mafa local government area of the state to assess the extent of damage done to the commercial community by the Boko Haram insurgents.
He discussed with the security operatives in the community on the prevailing security situation on ground and gave them his total assurance , support and commitment towards the restoration of law and order in the community.

He said his government will not condone any act of sabotage or lack of seriousness in security provision.
Zulum also passed by Mafa town to address the IDPs of the Ajiri community who are presently taking refuge in the town. He urged them to be more resilient and cooperate with the security personnel in their community to protect lives and property.


The governor commended the military personnel and vigilante groups in the town for their selfless services in providing security for lives and property of the people in the area.
