Intensify efforts to end insecurity, Gobir urges security agencies

Security agencies in the country have been implored to intensify efforts in addressing the lingering insecurity challenges facing the country.

The call was made by the chairman Senate Committee on Security and Intelligence, Dr Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir in a statement signed by one of his media aid, Bello Mohammed and made available to Blueprint in Gusau, the Capital City of Zamfara state, Tuesday.

He said  the call was imperative considering the long overdue insecurity challenge in some parts of the country, hence the need for urgent intervention and commitment by all the relevant security agencies in the country to combat the menace for the sustainable peace and stability among law abiding Nigerians.

“The issue of insecurity predicament we are confronting in some parts of the country can never be compromised by the National Assembly and the federal government and we must strive to make Nigeria the most peaceful nation not only in Africa but across the globe,” Senator Gobir stated.

He said relevant stakeholders like religious, traditional, community, political leaders and youth must be involved to find out some effective modalities that could be put in place to address the issue of insecurity challenge that bedeviled the country.

“We at National Assembly level will do everything humanly possible to get rid of any form of criminality in the country for peace and unity to thrive,” Gobir stated.

He also appealed to all political office holders in the country to develop youth empowerment scheme among their people which according to him, unemployment and illiteracy are the major obstacles that generate all forms of criminality in the country.
