Interpol nab Edo commissioner

The International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPO) has reportedly detained the Edo State commissioner for Arts, Culture & Tourism, Mr. Osaze Osemwingie-Ero.

Ero was reportedly arrested in France over alleged money laundering.

Political opponents claimed that the commissioner was nabbed while on an entourage of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s foreign trip.

The alleged arrest which went viral on various social media platform on Monday also claimed that the Edo governor had  abandoned the commissioner.

Other sources however claimed that the Ero was arrested for an offence he allegedly  committed before he was appointed commissioner.

Special Adviser to Obaseki on Media, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, said: “the alleged arrest has nothing to do with the state government.”

According to Crusoe, “We learnt of the alleged arrest of the Arts and Culture commissioner, Mr. Osaze Osemwingie-Ero  from unreliable sources on the social media and we are unable to confirm the alleged arrest or what might led to it.

“But we can confirm equivocal that whatever the issue might be, they are totally personal and have nothing to do whatsoever with the Edo State government or governor Godwin Obaseki.”
