Invest in childcare, CSO urges FG

The founder of Sortoutbridge, Miss Fatima Agboke, has urged the federal government to dedicate more funds and invest in childcare and development.

She made the statement during a 3-day training in professional childcare organized by her foundation in collaboration with the Social Development Secretariat recently in Abuja. 

According to her: “Due to the lack of proper care and competent hands in the childcare industry, my organisation came up with this initiative for the first time in Nigeria on the craving need to indulge and develop  the children. It’s time the federal government invests and makes it a policy for each care giver to be trained in the industry around the nation to eradicate unprofessional and uncertified caregivers in Nigeria”.

She further said in support of the present Administration to see youths creating jobs and being useful to the society, and adding impacts has been a major reason to voice out her contribution to the general public.

Also speaking, the representative of the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Ocha Kalu,  a social worker from child development department in the ministry said it partnered with Sortoutbridge Nigeria to carry out the programme on child care development because it is one of the basic right on child development. Others include; survival, development, participation, and protection.

Speaking earlier, the Director Gender Social Development Secretariat Mrs Uta Agnes Heart said the aim of the collaboration was to build capacity of childcare givers to handle them in a professional manner.

“We are gathered here today, to collaborate in building the capacity of childcare givers to handle their calling professionally because what you have is what you give, and if you train a child with passion, you bring out the best in them.

The Director expressed enthusiasm with the expectation that at the end of the workshop there would be  professional caregivers with passion, love, and dedication beginning with the FCT.
