Investors exchange N5.896bn on shares

Investors yesterday traded 747.912 million shares valued at N5.896 billion in 3817 deals. This is against 377.737 million shares worth N4.104 billion exchanged the previous day by investors in 4408 deals. Market capitalisation of listed equities went down by N56 billion to N12.579 trillion from N12.635 trillion recorded on Wednesday.
Also the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) All Share Index fell by 168.19 basis points from 38148.18 point traded the previous day to 37979.49 points. 7UP Bottling Nigeria Plc led the losers table, dropping by N15.52 kobo to close at N173.00, Lafarge Wapco trailed with a loss of N5.69 kobo to close at N108.21 kobo while Unilever Nigeria Plc and Cap Plc depreciated by N3.90 kobo and N2.09 kobo respectively to close at N36.10 kobo and N41.90 kobo.

On the other hand, Nigerian Breweries topped gainers chart, advancing by N3.00 to close at N166.00, Stanbic IBTC followed with a gain of N1.39 kobo to close at N30.40 kobo while Betaglass appreciated by N1.00 to close at N21.00.
Other companies appreciated in price were International Breweries and Ecobank Transnational Plc which grew by N1.00 and N0.35 kobo respectively to N31.50 kobo and N18.90 kobo.

Mansard Insurance was most active stock for the day, exchanging 191.042 million shares worth N573.074 million, ETI followed with account of 124.947 million shares valued at N2.317 billion while Resort Saving and Loans traded 94.480 million shares valued at N47.240 million.
Wema Bank sold 94.125 million shares worth N56.632 million and FBN Holdings sold 30.902 million shares cost N431.536 million.
