IPAC condoles families, victims of Lagos explosion

The Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC) has expressed shocked over the recent pipeline explosion in Lagos that claimed the lives 15 people, injured many others and destroyed 50 houses, describing it as “a national tragedy.”

In a statement by the chairman  Interim Management Committee, Leonard Nzenwa, IPAC stated, “Our thoughts and prayer are with the families of the deceased and the injured.”

The statement continued,  “We also commiserate with the government and people of Lagos state and call for a probe on the incident to prevent a recurrence, bearing in mind that security and welfare of the people are the primary purpose of Government.

“IPAC commends the gallantry of Rev. Sister Henrietta Alokha who rescued 300 students trapped in the inferno and lost her life in the process. She was an embodiment of leadership and patriotism.
“Lagos State Government and its agencies should restrict allocation of  lands where critical national assets like pipelines are located and prosecute defaulters.”
