IPAC tasks political parties on capacity building

Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC), FCT chapter has advised political parties to organise capacity building for the six  area councils across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

The newly elected FCT state chairman of IPAC, Honourable Waziri Sambo, stated this while speaking to Blueprint in Abuja on the outcome of IPAC election held Wednesday  22, January 2020, in Abuja.

 He said the capacity building was to enhance the council executives and legislators at the local level to understand what their constituents is all about.

The chairman added that, IPAC has a common goal with political parties and he wants all the registered political parties in the FCT to join IPAC so that it can work together as better democratic FCT.

He called on government to come up with serious economic plans and policies that can alleviate the sufferings of the masses.

He charged the newly elected officials, delegates and party leaders not to forget their constituents that voted them into office, but relate with them, stressing that, relation is one of the most valuable functions of an elected officer, which according to him fills an important humanitarian needs and gives a direct link to the needs and concern of the constituents.

He said under his watch, he would strive to design training for the council chairmen, legislators and party leaders of the FCT area councils on how they can be able to resolve conflict to themselves and among the community, how to set up mechanism in solving conflict and to enable them focus on how they can achieve effectively as elected officials, adding  that, it  is all about governance at the local level.

Waziri stated that the new executive will serve well and leave a good legacy after their tenure of office and thanked them for finding him worthy to fill the position of chairman and noted that, the confidence reposed in him as their representative will not be betrayed.
