Is zoning of presidency democratic?

I write on the above title over a controversy of zoning of the presidency to the southern region of this country. The issue is trending on the media that southern governors are campaigning for zoning of presidency to their region.

However, in democracy, there is no section that proposes zoning of any public office, as such the masses are the ones who would vote for any elective office, irrespective of where he comes from or his religion.

Zoning formula is a breach of democratic principles as the democracy gives Nigerians the right to elect/produce any credible person for their benefits. We are always after the political aspect of zoning without weighing its negative implications for the electorate.

The major aim of zoning as said by political apologists is to discard marginalization and ethnic crises but many elected representatives are taking undue advantage of it and get elected into an office full of poor governing.

Given the aforementioned statement, the masses are being threatened not to get a chance to elect whoever they wish based on his credibility rather on the zoning formula. Let credibility speak for itself, allow Nigerians to vote for their desired candidate, allow Nigerians to vote for those who can actualise their dreams.

Those who subscribe to this political concept should go back and rethink its negative consequencest.

Nevertheless, whether you are from South or North of this country, allow the masses judge your capacity at the polling units.
