Ishaku calls for regular provision of funds to security agencies

Taraba state Governor, Arch. Darius Ishaku on Thursday called on the federal government to always provide regular financial support to security agencies to assist them run their offices and handle security challenges as they arise.

Ishaku, who stated this in Jalingo during the occasion of the federal and state security administrator’s meeting said provision of funds to security agencies would assist them to face any security threat that might arise.

“I equally want the federal government to assist them with patrol vehicles and maintenance of same, including their apparatuses” he said.

He explained that his administration has been supportive in the provision of enabling environment for all forms of public and private activities aimed towards the betterment of the lives of its citizens in all facets of life.

He stressed that in spite of these endowment and government’s efforts at providing the needed development, rising security challenges, usually occasioned by communal clashes, farmers/herdsmen clashes, kidnappings, armed robbery and banditry, continued to be of great concern, as citizens within the state capital and Local government areas hardly sleep with their two eyes closed.

“These have greatly undermined the development of the state, though significant progress had been achieved in the past four and half years. 

“Hardly will a month lapse without one or two security challenges in the State and on each occasion, funds were deployed to facilitate the movement of security personnel,” he said.

According to him, the state government spend enormous scarce resources in resettling Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in camps created and provided for by government.
