Ishaku presents N168b budget for 2021 fiscal year

The Taraba state governor, Darius Ishaku, Friday presented the budget estimates of N168, 677,960,681 billion to the Taraba state house of  assembly for 2021 fiscal year.

Ishaku in his address said that the draft 2020 Budget was another opportunity to work together to achieve what was best for Taraba state State.

He informed that one hundred and sixty eight billion, six hundred and seventy seven million,  nine hundred and sixty thousand,  six hundred and eighty one naira, zero kobo (N168, 677, 960, 681, 00) represented a decrease of forty seven billion,  one hundred and forty five million, six hundred and sixteen thousand,  one hundred and twenty nine naira, zero kobo (47, 145, 616, 129.00) or 27.95% lower than the 2020 approved budget.

According to him,  the total recurrent expenditure was estimated at eighty two billion,  nine hundred and ten million,  forty eight thousand,  six hundred and fifty naira, ninety kobo (82, 910, 048, 650, .90) representing 59.45%.

He further said the 2021 budget has a capital expenditure estimate of fifty six billion,  five hundred and fifty million,  three hundred and eighty seven thousand,  three hundred and ten naira, ninety kobo (56, 550, 387, 310.90).

He  highlighted that the appropriation aimed at Improving the efficiency and effectiveness of spending, ensure greater control of the wage bill and also directing capital expenditure to critical infrastructure.

He  also mentioned key sectors like Agriculture, Health, Education, Works and others as major beneficiaries of the budget aimed at economic revitalization and prosperity.

He affirmed that his administration would strive to complete every single project started in each of the 16 Local Government Areas and  initiate new ones.

The governor asserted that he was confident that the state assembly would ensure proper scrutiny and approve a budget that would be in the interest of the State, particularly its people.

He maintained that the 2021 budget is called “BUDGET OF RESTORATION AND STABILIZATION”.

In his opening address, speaker of the Assembly Joseph Albasu Kunini promised the Governor of a speedy assessment and scrutiny of the 2021 budget to facilitate its prompt implementation.
