An Islamic Scholar in Kaduna, Ustaz Mustapha Abdulraheem, has tasked Muslim parents on the need to ensure that their children acquired Islamic knowledge, saying that “it’s the best legacy a parent can leave for his child in this world.”
“Islamic and western education is important and Muslims are allowed to acquire both,” he said.
The scholar spoke to Blueprint shortly after the 13th AGOMBAS English Islamic Foundation of Nigeria Quranic Graduation walimah held in Kaduna.

“We thank Allah because there are about 43 students that graduated successfully from the Islamiyya. Seeking Islamic knowledge is very important to every human being, particularly Muslims.
“This is because Islamic knowledge is the foundation of the religion and without the knowledge you cannot practise the religion well or as it should be practised.  So, it’s very important.”

On the need for parents to ensure that their children sought Islamic knowledge, he said “I will say it’s compulsory for parents to ensure that their children acquire knowledge, both western and Islamic, if not their children in the hereafter will challenge them on that.”
The scholar, who doubles as the financial secretary of the school, said the school was established about 30 years ago, and urged Muslims to unite for the benefit of the religion.

Earlier, Sheikh Yahaya Muhammad Baba of Gumi College, Kaduna, also emphasised the need for Muslims to always assist the religion with their wealth as well as seeking Islamic knowledge.
He said Muslims “cannot practise the religion well without knowing its rudiments and seeking Quranic knowledge.”
