Ambassador of Isreal to Nigeria Shimon Ben-Shoshan, disclosed this yesterday in Abuja during a ceremony to flag off the Second National Old Testament Bible contest to be held on the theme, “Unveiling the secrets of the land.”

The contest, an annual event organised in collaboration with the Isreali ministry of education , Christians United for Isreal and the Christian Assosiation of Nigeria (CAN) is to take place in Nigeria and Africa at large.

According to Ben-Shoshan,  the competition aims to  serve as a cultural bridge between Nigerians and Isrealis, adding that it will also unveil more hidden secrets that affect daily life and help to bring people together.

He noted that the competition had started 60 years ago and sustained with pride by the Isrealis, expressing hope that Nigeria also sustain it considering its educational benefits.

“The first competition was broadcasted 60years ago, the pulse of the nation raced. Isrealis followed the competition with a sense of pride that swelled from being the country of the Bible.

“The contest aspires to challenge the minds and touch the hearts of many Nigerians throughout the country. This initiative is a symbol of the bridges of kingship between our two nations,” he added.

The competition would be held in three stages at state, zonal and national levels with two finalists from each stage proceeding to the next level in order to compete against others.

“The first two stages will be internet-based and the final stag will be handwritten in front of a panel of professional judges that will come from the Isreali ministry of educaton. The final will be held in Abuja in November,” he said.
