ITF launches IT empowerment programme, trains 700 youth

The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has launched the InfoTech Skills Empowerment Programme with the training and certification of 700 youth across the six geopolitical zones of the country.

ITF director general, Sir Joseph Ntung Ari stated this  Thursday during the graduation ceremony of the 2019 InfoTech skills empowerment programme held in Kaduna.

Ari, who was represented by the Kaduna area manager, Alhaji Yahaya Manu, stated that the trainees are degree holders selected and equipped with a three month intensive specialised ICT skills. He said each geopolitical zone is benefiting with at least 100 participants.

“The training was in three categories; the Advanced Computer Networking, Networking Certification and Hardware Maintenance and Repair, 80% of the enrolled trainees passed the certification examination.”

Sir Ari stated that the certification had an international recognition. He noted that through the InfoTech Empowerment Programme, the ITF would equally provide the graduation students with startup packs and tools to boost their self employability.

The ITF DG commended President Muhammadu Buhari for supporting ITF in the implementation of its various skills intervention and empowerment programmes for the benefit of Nigerian youth.

Some of the personalities at the occasion, advised the trainees to take full advantage of what they have learned by impacting positively to their societies.
