The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council ( NEPC) is set to partner to provide capacity building  with the

of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) operators in export of indigenous products.

In a signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Abuja on Thursday, the Director General of ITF ,Sir Joseph Ari, it would serve as a guide to drive the capacity and growth of the MSMEs effectively for entrepreneurial development.

Ari, represented by Director, Research and Curriculum and Chairman, Technical Committee,Mr Zakaraya Piwuna, said that the MoU would determine specific needs and opportunities for MSMEs capacity building.

He said it will also help the local exporters by improving packaging and processing of agricultural commodities as well as the agricultural value chain.

“The MSMEs are mostly within the informal sector of the economy and have a very high yield in terms of Gross Domestic Product.

“ITF being a member of the National Council on MSMEs felt it is apt to use expertise to contribute to the MSMEs development to create jobs, wealth and tackle the challenges in the sector,’’ he said.

He further noted that its contact with the NEPC dated back to 2015 when it received a draft proposal from NEPC to collaborate on MSMEs capacity building.
