ITF pledges more training for Jigawa youths

Three hundred Jigawa youths were among the 11, 000 trained by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) nationwide, aimed at self-reliance.
The 113 males and125 females apprentices selected across the state were trained on various vocations under the National Industrial Skills Development Programme (NISDP) in the state.
The Director General of ITF, Sir Joseph Ari, who was represented by Isiaka Shehu, said the women received training on sewing, 63 on welding while 50 were trained on plumbing respectively.
The DG said the trainees were selected across the 27 local government areas of the state, pointing out that the three months training was conducted in seven designated centers in the state.
Out of the 300 that attended the training, 238 were given start-up packs aimed at enabling them to establish their own businesses.
‘The names of the remaining 62 that were yet to get the start-up packs have been compiled against the next batch of distribution. The training is in line of the mandate of ITF contribution to federal government’s policy of job, wealth creation and poverty eradication.
In his address, Governor Mohammadu Badaru Abubakar, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdulkadir Adamu Fanini, commended the Fund for the training and assured the Fund of the government’s commitment on all areas of collaboration.
