ITF urges contributing employers to claim reimbursement

The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has urged all liable contributing registered employers of labour that are up to date in their training contribution to supposed to claim their reimbursement under the Reimbursement Scheme.
The Director General of the Fund, Sir Joseph Ari, who stated this on Wednesday at an Interactive Forum with ITF Stakeholders organised by the ITF Kaduna Area Office, noted that they have observed that many employers contributing to the Fund and up to date in their training don’t know how to calculate their claims thereby failing to make such claims.

The ITF boss, who was represented by the Zonal Manager Kaduna office, Malam Yahaya Manu, said, “This year’s Interactive Forum focuses on ‘Optimising the ITF Reimbursement Scheme.

“All liable contributing employers that are up to date in their training contribution and do train according to specification are supposed to claim reimbursement.
“We however noticed that many of the employers find it difficult to do accurate calculation in respect of their respective claims. We have no choice than to once again bring the issue to the front burner in this year’s forum. Thus, by our analysis it is either the organisations lacked interest in the reimbursement scheme or they are not properly grounded on the procedure to follow.

“Last year’s Forum featured SIWES and reimbursement in which a contributing employer was invited for a presentation on the reimbursement scheme. However from the files so far received, there is a lot to be done and that is why this time around the presenter is from the ITF.” Sir Ari further explained that the stakeholders meeting offered a unique opportunity for the industrial Training Fund to get feedback and be able to address some grey areas that might arise.

He said the center of ITF activities since inception has been human capital development and management to meet the demands of the Nigerian economy and as a way of motivating indigenous manpower training.
He urged the contributing employers of labour to remain focused and relevant for the general wellbeing of Nigeria.
