It’s too early to declare stand on 2023 presidency – Jekada

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna state will support any presidential candidate endorsed by Governor Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufa in 2023.

Kaduna state chairman of the party, Air Commodore Emmanuel K. Jekada (rtd), said this in Kaduna recently after a meeting of the party’s working and non-working committees.

He said it is too early to start the 2023 elections, but the stand of the party in the state will be that wherever the leader goes is where the party  shall  follow.
He stated further that the meeting was overdue, adding that the SEC meeting of the party will hold early next month and some key stakeholders, including Governor Nasir El-Rufai, speaker, senators, past chairmen of the party, ministers among many others will attend.
He said the meeting will have some in attendance personally while others will participate on virtual because of COVID-19.
He said the party has made tremendous progress and it is in peace. He added that dissenting views in such a large assembly cannot be ruled out.

On the issue of Governor El-Rufai’s successor, the party chairman said the party will not stop any qualified member willing to succeed the governor from making it known, but the party will allow all due process to take place and follow the constitution to the letter.
