It’s wrong to designate democratic government a Regime- Nwosu

Governorship candidate of Action Alliance (AA) in the last election in Imo state, Chief Uche Nwosu, said it is wrong for anyone to designate President Muhammadu Buhari as a dictator or his administration as a regime.

Nwosu, who spoke to some journalists in Abuja Wednesday on the Editorial of a National Daily that it would henceforth address President Buhari as a Major General and his administration as regime, said nobody can strip the President of his Presidential title.

According to him, what the President needs was encouragement and support and not vilification.

Reacting to the Daily Newspaper Editorial that said henceforth it would be addressing President Muhammadu Buhari as “Major General” and his administration as “regime”, Nwosu said is unfair to address a democratic government as a regime.

“He is not a military man but democratically elected President. We elected him as our President and anybody who is writing General Muhammadu Buhari is not fair to Nigerians. For me he is President Muhammadu Buhari. After all we had President Olusegun Obasanjo, who was a military man.”

The Presidential Special Adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina has also responded to the Newspaper Editorial, stating that addressing President Buhari by his military rank is another testimony to free speech and freedom of the press, which this administration (or regime, if anyone prefers: it’s a matter of semantics) has pledged to uphold and preserve”.

Nwosu, also commented on the removal of the FIRS Chairman, Mr. Babatunde Fowler and the Chairman of AMCON, Dr. Muiz Banire SAN and their replacement.

According to him, the President appoints  people and has the right to remove base on the information available to him.
Reacting to the new appoinments of chairmen of FIRS and AMCON by President Buhari, Nwosu said, “he is the President and if he decides to appoint anybody he must have known the person.

“He knows who can do the job well. When he wants to make appoint he would first of all send the person’s name to Security agencies for scrutining. For me is about results not sentiment.
