The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has joined the international civil aviation community to celebrate Nigerian women as the world marks the International Women’s Day (IWD 2020).
The Director-General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Capt Musa Nuhu recognizes women as the bedrocks of all successful societies and on this day, we acknowledge and appreciate their contributions towards the development of the aviation, not only in Nigeria, but on the global stage.
He said it was in alignment with the International Women’s Day 2020 Theme: ‘Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights, NCAA expresses its full commitment to the implementation of the Aviation Gender Equality Program as well as the promotion of women in STEM education.
“NCAA aligns itself with the position of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) that “it is now more important than ever to advocate for gender equality, given the opportunities which are presenting themselves due to growth, attrition, and other factors.
“This is particularly the case in highly-specialized industries like aviation, where women continue to be under-represented.”
“We hope that this celebration will be a springboard for the rise of women in the Aviation industry where the protection or their rights are fully established and guaranteed.
