Jama’a LG boss appeals over polio eradication

Chairman of Jama’a local government area of Kaduna state, Mr. Daniel Amos, has appealed to parents in the area to reciprocate the government’s efforts in their quest to eradicate polio by December
2014 by bringing their children for immunization.

Amos made the appeal at Kariyo village during the flagged-off of the polio immunization programme for the area.
The chairman noted that the government is laying so much emphasis on the programme was based on the devastating effect the disease has on children, expressing his satisfaction that non-compliance cases in the local government are not much.

He urged parents, especially women, to take the issue of good hygiene with seriousness, owing to the fact that cleanliness among families reduces the spread of diseases.

Earlier in his speech, the director, primary health care of the local government, Mrs Christiana Musa, told parents not to be tired in  bringing forward their children for the immunization, observing that it was the only way that the deadly disease will be wiped out from the country.
The director appealed to all to support the government to eradicate polio in Nigeria by December 2014.
