Some 211, 000 out of the 257,000 candidates took part in the exercise.
JAMB’s head of media, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, said the participants were selected based on first come first service.
UTME mock test was introduced in 2017 by JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, to enable prospective candidates to acquaint themselves with the Computer Based Test (CBT) and defuse possible fear and anxiety in the hall during the proper examination.
Oloyede, who supervised the exercise in some CBT centres in Abuja and environs, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the candidates and CBT centres visited.
He was also satisfied with the reports from state offices, which showed that the exercise was done smoothly as planned.
The registrar encouraged privately owned CBT centres to put finishing touches to their preparation for the 2018 UTME exercise.
During the exercise, the registrar insisted that items that could store data, transmit or receive signal, such as wristwatches, pens, calculators, pencils, devices order than HB pencil, would not be accepted at the CBT centres during the UTME scheduled to begin March 9.
Oloyede further said electronic devices like mobile phones, spy reading glasses would be subjected to properly scrutiny before being allowed into the examination hall.
“Similarly, books or any other reading/writing material, cameras, recorders, microphones, ear piece, ink/pen readers, smart lenses, smart rings/jewellery, smart buttons and Bluetooth devices would not be allowed into the centres.”
He said the prohibition of the listed items above and other rules were applicable to not only the candidates, but to the supervisors and examiners as well.
