JAMB partners NSCDC to fight extortion of candidates

The Jigawa state commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Alhaji Garba Muhammad, has expressed concern over the attitude of some CBT operators charging JAMB examination fees above government stipulated rate.

The release made available by the public relations officer of the command, SC Adamu Shehu said this during a courtesy visit to Jigawa state JAMB coordinator, Alhaja Bello H. Aminu, recently in his office, in Dutse by the NSCD commandant.

He said the state Commandant disclosed that he was given directives by his boss the Commandant General of the Corps, Alhaji  Abdullahi Gana Mohammad, to put a stop to what he described as extortion of JAMB candidates by CBT operators.

He  called on the operators to charge only the official fees or risk revocation of their licences and possible prosecution.

He  expressed willingness to continue supporting JAMB in areas of securing examination materials, office building, installations and the safety of its personnel and candidates respectively.

Responding, the  JAMB state coordinator also showed readiness to synergise with the commandant towards enforcing government’s policies and programs.

He stated that the total official cost of JAMB registration is N4,700 per candidate, adding that any center charging above violates the law and would be charged for extortion punishable by law.
